Juan Manú is a Latin-folk instrumentalist and singer-songwriter based in Washington, DC. Originally from the border city of El Paso, Texas, his music celebrates his Mexican heritage and Tejano culture. Most of Juan's songs are in Spanish, with English and a range of Latin and American influences woven throughout. He has more than a decade of training in both classical solo and orchestral violin, as well as 10 years of experience performing mariachi vocals, violin, and guitar. Through his work, Juan brings a distinct social perspective, using traditional genres and folkloric stages to uplift queer voices and stories. Juan is a current artist in residence at Strathmore and is a four-time recipient of the Arts and Humanities Fellowship Program grant through the District of Columbia's Commission on the Arts & Humanities.
